Der Wettkampf The Contest

Since we are attemtping the AKTA rules this year, the first hurdles to overcome,were converting the feet-distances into our meters. A seemingly simple task, but anyway raising quite some discussion. Da wir heuer die AKTA-Regeln verwenden wollten, bestanden die ersten Hürden darin, Fuß in Meter umzurechnen. Eine scheinbar einfache Aufgabe, die dennoch einige Diskussion verursachte.

Workshop Workshop

When the contest was over, the throwing went on in the workshop, where everybody showed his/her specialities, and much know how was exchanged. And of course we made much fun. Als der Wettkampf vorbei war, ging das Werfen weiter. Im Workshop zeigte jeder seine Spezialitäten, und eine Menge Knowhow wurde ausgetauscht. Und natürlich machten wir jede Menge Spaß.

Dieter showed us throwing from the ground and throws backward. As well he brought his atlatl with him and demonstrated some throws with it. As well he is a knife maker and has brought a suitcase full of self made knives, which he will show us later. Dieter zeigte das Werfen aus dem Liegen und das Werfen rückwärts. Ausserdem hatte er seinen Atlatl dabei und zeigte damit ein paar Würfe. Er ist ausserdem Messermacher und hat einen Koffer voll selbst hergestellter Messer dabei, die er uns später zeigen wird.

Michael explained us his sophisticated theory about the relation between turns and distance, and he demonstrated us the functionality of this considerations. Michael erkärte uns seine ausgefeilte Theorie über den Zusammenhang zwischen Umdrehungen und Abstand, und demonstrierte die Wirksamkeit dieser Überlegungen.

Franz was lazy, otherwise he would have continued his experiments with throwing the scythe. Franz war faul, ansonsten hätte er seine Experimente mit der Sense fortgeführt.

Each throw counted maximum 3 points. Each participant had 10 x 4 throws in each diszipline, this makes 40 throws with 120 points maximum. The maximum points in 3 disciplines were 360. 1 ft is 0.3048 m. Jeder Wurf zählt maximal 3 Punkte. Jeder Teilnehmer hat je Disziplin 10 mal 4 Würfe, zusammen also 40 Würfe mit 120 erreichbaren Punkten. Maximale Punktzahl in 3 Disziplinen: 360. 1 Fuß ist 0,3048 Meter.

Expert Talkings Expertengespräche

Now comes the comfortable part. The day was really hot, and we enjoy the dawn. The Bratwuerste are on the grill, the stock bread is beaking over the fire, the beer is cool, the moon shines ... the night becomes long. Jetzt kommt der gemütliche Teil. Der Tag war sehr heiß, und wir geniessen die Dämmerung. Die Bratwürste bruzzeln auf dem Grill, das Stockbrot bäckt über dem Feuer, das Bier ist kühl, der Mond scheint ... die Nacht wird lang.
